Branch Out: Creative Worship

Worship is about ascribing worth.  The way we ascribe worth is dynamic, creative, and out of the core of who we are.  There is not one way to worship.  On a periodic basis, I will post ideas for creative worship that can be used in a communal setting whether it be in worship or a retreat environment.

Scripture:

For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’  In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’  For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (NRSV)

And when I persist in surrendering it to my Heavenly Father, it seems to bubble and brim and overflow with more and more of the Lord's goodness." (Emilie Barnes)

Praying Hands Station

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.  And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”  Romans 8:26-27 (NRSV)
