Grounded in Love (Charcoal on Paper)

Grounded in Love (Charcoal on Paper)

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with trees and roots.  I remember in college when asked to keep a sketchbook one of the repetitive images that occurred was always trees and roots.  As I reflected on Ephesians 3, once again, this familiar and compelling image came to mind.  Yet this time it was different.  This image was no longer just a tree with roots.  This image represented Christ dwelling in my heart and keeping me rooted and grounded in love.  It seemed so black and white.  Christianity at its core is about being rooted and grounded in love – love of God, love of neighbor, and care for creation.  May we grow in learning to love in all that we do.

This image is also used in a Bible Study that I wrote on Philippians.
